Dance competitions allow students to perform ballet and/or contemporary pieces for expert judges who provide comments. They also get to watch and learn from dancers from other studios. The intense preparation for competitions can bring out the best in a dancer. Many competitions offer master classes and workshops as well as competition.

ESB does not require any of our dancers to compete, but supports them if they want to and our faculty thinks they are ready for the experience. Additionally, ESB dancers can perform services that enable them to earn scholarship money to defray the cost of competitions.

Over the last few years, ESB dancers have won numerous honors at prestigious dance competitions and ESB has received several studio honors, most notably "Best Technique" awards.
